Becoming a registered pool inspector
There are several requirements that applicants must meet to be able to register as an independently qualified pool inspector and carry out inspections of pool barriers under the independently qualified pool inspector regime. There are also restrictions on who can apply — relating to previous convictions, prohibitions and bankruptcy.
The cost to apply for registration is $345 (incl. GST), which is non-refundable. If your application is successful, your name and contact details will be added to our public register of independently qualified pool inspectors.
Once you appear on the register you can sign a certificate of periodic inspection. Pool owners need this certificate to show that their pool barrier complies with the Building Act. Certificates must only be signed by the person who carried out the inspection.
